About

Born and raised outside of Flint, Michigan to hardworking parents, I held my first job at 15 years of age. I received by Undergraduate Degree from the University of Michigan in 1989, and my Law Degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1993. I have been practicing law in Illinois since 1993. I started my own practice in 2012, with a focus on family law/divorce, personal bankruptcy, and foreclosure defense.

I have a common sense and non-adversarial approach to my cases. I attempt to resolve cases quickly and efficiently, keeping the cost as low as possible, while still ensuring that my client's rights are fully protected. I also believe in being completely honest with each client about the status of their case, and about their options, even when it is not always what they want to hear. I want each of my clients to have realistic expectations about their situation, because I believe that those who have a better understanding of the process, and of the pros and cons of their case, will feel more in control and less anxious about the outcome.

I understand that clients come to me at low points in their lives, while trying to navigate lifechanging events and decisions. Therefore, I try and make the legal system less daunting by giving my clients choices as to how they want to proceed at each step. There are many moving parts to every case, so I feel that keeping my clients informed throughout the process is vital to ensuring that they make the best decisions for their future. My goal is to put each client in the best possible position to enter the next phase in their life.

I reside in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, with my husband and many pets.

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."
